PISA

Programme for International Student Assessment(PISA), sponsored by the OECD, is conducted every three years since 2000. It is an international survey which evaluates 15-year-old students’ reading, mathematics, and science literacy. PISA aims to assess to what degree students approaching the end of their compulsory education have acquired some of the knowledge and skills that are essential for the challenges in society and the foundation of life-long learning.

The Contribution of PISA to Macao Education

PISA study reveals a comparison of student performance under different educational policies and learning environments amongst different countries/economies. By taking part in PISA, educational institutions can receive feedback and analysis of information about student skills and attitudes to learning within a wider international context for curriculum and learning objectives planning. Government can draw up education policy decisions to meet the need of Macao development and to improve the educational quality.

Participating in PISA, educational institutions and schools are able to learn more about the performance of 15-year-old students. PISA study facilitates government, schools and stakeholders to keep on contributing to promoting Macao education up to international standards and cultivating the next generation who are capable to meet the challenges in the future.
