TIMSS 2027

TIMSS (Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study) is a key assessment by IEA that evaluates fourth and eighth graders’ achievements in mathematics and science. Since its inception in 1995, TIMSS has provided essential data that enable countries and regions to enhance their educational policies in these critical subjects. Participating regions have the opportunity to monitor trends in student performance and evaluate the impact of changes in curriculum and instructional methodologies. The study collects comprehensive information regarding curriculum implementation, the home environment, school climate, available resources, and classroom instructional practices. Additionally, TIMSS publishes an encyclopedia that provides valuable insights into the educational contexts of various countries or regions concerning these subjects.
For TIMSS 2027 in Macao, the Educational Testing and Assessment Research Centre has been designated as the implementing body by DSEDJ. Presently, Mr. Chi Meng KONG, the Director of DSEDJ serves as the National Research Coordinator (NRC), with Professor Xiufeng LIU assuming the role of Principal Investigator (PI) and co-NRC.
